I feel like we have the system we have now because the merchant class got pissed that they couldn't buy their way into the aristocracy. For the rest of us peasants it's meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

There's a little bit of Nietzsche going on, and just a sprinkle of Animal Farm maybe

It was so much better when the rich were actually idle.

This is one of your best pieces of writing. I’m still waiting to find a CEO who has a brain in his head.

Thanks for giving a logical, level-headed rejoinder to this bilge.

Friday, my middle brother-in-law had a massive heart attack at work, and didn't make it back. He'd tried the "entrepreneurship" route for several years, without success, and had to go back to working for others to regain his footing in the world. He'd followed all "the rules", and pretty much repaired all his losses from that experience, but he won't get to be the cheerful, good-busy "retired guy" he would've been in a few years. He was, quietly, 25 times the man any of these buffoons are; yet they will see comfortable old age and he won't. So many like him probably won't, including me.

I barely have words of sufficiently nitric contempt for the likes of these sneering house-pets right now.

I'm glad that your cooler ones are present instead.

Sorry about your brother in law. I knew a guy who had to work in an office where there was a stain on the floor left by a previous employee who died of cardiac arrest on the job and made a mess on the carpet. It's one of the most on-the-nose stories I've ever heard.

"I bet he knows quite a few founders and co-founders and maybe even deputy assistant junior vice presidents."

Yes, maybe, but does he know any vice-deputy sub-assistants???

“These aren’t men of grand experience who did their time in the field and now mean to pass their learning onto the next generation.”

Extremely well put. There is nothing for them to share, even if they did work real jobs or approach whatever it is they do as a craft, bc none of these guys are serious as humans.

This is a superb piece of writing - special shout-out to the use of "Somerton" as a verb. Definitely gonna Somerton that for personal use.

Entrepreneur class pretty much sums up the people the revolution needs to compost first.

I want to see Musk's Excel spreadsheet and pie chart with his evidence in support of that claim. 😁

You are sick of hearing these and reading these people’s opinions yet you write about them continuing the spread of this ilk’s horseshit.

You think ignoring horse shit magically makes it go away? Ignoring the dominant ideology makes it vanish?

Horse shit is a fertilizer but for the ideological weed to grow water and sunlight are still needed.

The obvious rejoinder, but doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

Around 600,000,000 tinnes of horse shit produced annually, only a faction of which becomes fertiliser. The rest surs there, waiting to be stepped in.

Living near some horse stables I still retain eyes and nose and have never stepped into it.

You know, I do think a lot about the types of things I write about and the ethics of writing about them at all because I realise there is innate danger in publicity, but I feel very confident in this case that me dumping a bunch of ridicule on the stupid ideas of a group of people who already themselves have an audience dozens of orders of magnitude bigger than mine is a complete non-issue. Not a singe person is going to read what I wrote and think "You know what, I love rich assholes now!"

You think Plato was a dick and I can be too. My question was a quick response that came across as an attack, apparently, but that is not where I was coming from.

I responded while thinking that there is not a single day that goes by when I’m free of that shithead. I was pondering the numbers 3 15 23 60. I’m not a believer in numerology but they were:

3. For March

15. For the ides of March—the date it was yesterday

23. For 23 stab wounds

60. For the total number of co-conspirators who chose to defend their Republic against a king even though they were not being noble but protecting their own self interest.

I’m just sick of thinking about that him and all the lesions on humanity. Thus, I apologize for how I came across.
